Setting up a very basic website using fastmail.
It would be better to set this up using AWS, however, I already have a fastmail account, with ample storage space.
To use this space as stoage, one needs to:
And then create the website. :)
Unfortunately, the mac os x’s dav implementation seems to be very simplistic - rsync did not work effectively.
Instead, cp -rv works well (once mounted), though it is slow (for obvious reasons).
In the future I’ll move this to aws s3 where I can then use aws’s sync, or impelment a better sync with fastmail.
My script is thus:
jekyll build cp -rv public/_site/* /Volumes/webdav.fastmail.com/thestar.fussycoder.id.au/files/website/
As a small tip: If using Jekyll, as I am, for a static site generator, then I suggest setting defaults.
- Unless a layout is specified, then the encoding is likely to be incorrect.
